Emergence

Falling, falling, falling . . . ill. illing,
Focus fades

Slowing slowing, down
Striving to tear through it
Stopping Stopped
Without willing
Halted
Without willing
Willing, wanting, yearning to keep going

I had a rhythm, shaping my days
Comfortably, uncomfortable,
With the ebb and tide of days , eve to morn to eve
Even with the work weighing
Weighing down
And the pressures
Yearning to do the right thing and balancing
Plates spinning
Spinning
Spinning
Out of control to crash
And burn into
Illness
Fever forms, facilitates
Stopping
Halting
Pausing

To focus on recovery
Yield, yielding
Fall, falling
Give, giving
Will, failing
Into the fog of fever
And recovery

Reflections in the pit
The pit of heat
The cloud of thought
The fevered ramblings
Seeking
Out

Crucible
The fever heat is a crucible
Crushing, melting
Moulding
Mold the way out
Of the pit
Transformation turns
From fever to forming
Futures

A new day
Healing, healed
Negative, positively
Rising, resting still
Rising, resting still
Arising
Anew
Into a new day.
Emergence
Anew

A poem written out of the clarity that emerges while recovering from a fevered illness.
